If you haven’t yet purchased a health insurance plan, your time may be running out. The Obamacare open enrollment period — the time in which anyone can sign up for the health insurance plan of their choice — will end on February 15. That gives you just about one more week to act.
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona, United HealthCare, Health Net and most all other health insurance carriers will not allow you to buy one of their plans after open enrollment closes unless you have what the government calls an SEP, or Special Enrollment Period. SEPs include moving, getting married, losing group coverage, divorce and several other events. If you simply wait until open enrollment is over and don’t have an SEP, you may have to wait until January 2016 to get on a health insurance plan.
There are some health insurance companies here in Arizona that will sell a policy to you at any time during the year, but their plans are not available in the entire state of Arizona, so these plans may not be an option for you.
Call us at (800) 600-9663 and we can give you rates and enroll you in the plan of your choice right over the telephone. We can also get you any tax credits that you may be entitled to that will lower your monthly premium costs.
