To get an Arizona ObamaCare plan with an effective date of January 1st, you’d better act fast. The last day to apply for a policy that will start on January 1st is Thursday, December 15th. If you wait until after that day to apply, your plan will go into effect on February 1st, but only if you apply by January 15th. After January 15th, you can no longer apply for an ObamaCare plan until November 2023 unless you have a qualifying event, like coming off an employer-sponsored health insurance plan, moving to Arizona, or getting married.
Lehrman Group markets the Marketplace ObamaCare plans from all health insurance companies that offer plans here in Arizona. Depending upon the Arizona county you live in, the available plans come from Aetna, Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medica, Oscar, and United HealthCare.
One of the important considerations to think about before deciding on which insurance company to select is to find out from your doctors which carriers that they will be accepting. Not all doctors accept all plans. Lots of doctors don’t accept ANY ObamaCare plans. If your doctor is among those that don’t accept any of these carriers and you want an ObamaCare plan instead of a non-ObamaCare plan, you’d have to start with new doctors.
We offer several very good medically underwritten non-ObamaCare plans that allow you to use any doctor of your choice, anywhere in the USA. These plans, however, don’t cover pre-existing conditions. If you have pre-existing conditions such as cancer in the recent past, type 1 diabetes, heart conditions or certain other pre-existing conditions, these plans would not be a good choice for you. Some of these plans give you doctor visits for $30, urgent care for $50 and prescriptions for $10.
